Your Habits = Your Future
Everyone always likes to think about the future and they wish for things that they hope will arrive someday. More often than not, a lot of these people live the same day over and over without trying to change. If that sounds like you, that’s okay… for now. I’m going to change a quote I like from a show called “Black Clover” and it goes, “there isn’t any shame in being weak, the shame is in staying weak”, and that can be changed here to say that once you have dreams and desires, the shame comes from not doing anything about it. It is modern human nature to want to make excuses right away when something seems challenging or uncomfortable. You have these wishes and wants yet you’re not actively doing anything to get yourself there; that is the problem.
I would like you all to close your eyes in a moment and picture the following:
Who is the dream version of yourself?
What do they look like?
What systems do they have in place that got them to where they are?
What skills did they have to learn on their journey?
Finally, what do you have to do to make sure YOU get there?
Exercises like this are helpful to open your imagination and seek out what is possible. If your wishes and wants are real, then you already know that you will have to work hard to get there.
Now, some people may want to have a 1 million dollar business, others may want to be the best pickleball player in their community, some of you may want to obtain a leadership position in your current work life. No matter the case, these things don’t just happen. More often than not, everyone you see in your dream role has a list of habits and routines that are executed daily. A goal is meaningless without the system to get you there, and these systems are what so many people forget to put thought into.
How do we start?
Systems cannot be created accurately without goals. Specifically, SMART goals. For those of you that haven’t created these goals yet, take 15 minutes and create 1-2 SMART goals. Now that thats done, you must figure out what steps you have to take to get there. Write it down, the more detail the better. Step 3 is to now implement the things that you can do today, and do them day in and day out without fail. While you do that, start to include the other things you wrote down. Learn that skill, talk to those people, and implement what you have learned. Grow over time.
A quote I like from Alex Hormozi is “Volume negates luck” meaning, do something more than you think you should, blow your competition out of the water with the amount you do. You significantly increase your chances of success when you just do more.
Conclusion:
Use these steps and take this jump towards the wants and wishes that you have. Take action and make it happen.
